Volunteering with Children

FBC Richland has a comprehensive screening and training process designed to safeguard the children and students in our care.

All programs or events primarily geared to minors must be supervised by a minimum number of Authorized Adult and Student Workers, as detailed in our Safety Policy.

Adult workers will be 18 years of age or older and have completed the screening process.

Student workers will be at least 14 years of age or in 9th grade, which ever is greater, have parental permission, and have completed the same screening process.

Some times we offer an apprentice program for students in grades 7 & 8 with the goal of training them to become Authorized Workers when they reach 9th grade and are ready to complete the screening process.

All leadership, staff, and volunteers in any ministry to minors are required to complete this process:

  1. Pray with and discuss your desire to minister to children with a trusted friend or mentor.
  2. Talk with the Ministry Champion for the area in which you feel led to serve.
  3. Fill out the FBC Volunteer Application.
  4. Complete the MinistrySafe Sexual Abuse Awareness Training and pass the quiz.
  5. Pass a criminal background check.
  6. Agree to abide by the Children/Student Worker Policy.
  7. Complete any ministry specific training.
  8. Be approved by the Ministry Champion and Supporting Elder.
