WELCOME TO TIM WALKER AND FAMILY
As many of you are aware from our business meeting on Sunday, December 13, God has led us to call Tim Walker as our new Lead Pastor. Pastor Tim and his family agree that God is also leading them to become part of First Baptist Church and have accepted this call. They plan to join us in mid-January 2021!
Please continue to pray for the pastors and staff as we prepare to bring Pastor Tim on board. Pray also for Pastor Tim, Rebecca, Katie, Larah, Samuel, Abigail, and Elias as they have lots to do to prepare and move.
Pastor Tim has asked for more detailed information about who is part of the First Family so he can start to get to know us and pray for us individually, as families, and as a corporate body. We have added the Walkers to our church database and they will be in the ChurchCenter app directory soon. If you have not yet joined this private group, now would be a great time to do so! Just reply to this email and let us know you want to be included so that we can add you to the directory. Then you can upload both individual and family pictures, and choose what information you would like to share.
If you have any specific questions about the transition process, please reach out to an elder or deacon.

Mighty To Save
Same Power
Build My Life
Mighty To Save
Verse 1
Ev’ryone needs compassion
Love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Ev’ryone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The hope of nations
Chorus
Saviour He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
Verse 2
So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Ev’rything I believe in
Now I surrender
Bridge
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory of the risen King
Same Power
Verse 1
I can see the waters
raging at my feet
I can feel the breath of
those surrounding me
I can hear the sound of
nations rising up
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome
Verse 2
I can walk down this
dark and painful road
I can face ev’ry
fear of the unknown
I can hear all God’s
children singing out
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome
Chorus
The same power that rose
Jesus from the grave
The same power that
commands the dead to wake
Lives in us lives in us
The same power that moves
mountains when He speaks
The same power that can
calm a raging sea
Lives in us lives in us
He lives in us lives in us
Verse 3
We have hope that
His promises are true
In His strength
there is nothing we can’t do
Yes we know there are
greater things in store
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome
Bridge
Greater is He that is living in me
He’s conquered our enemy (oh)
No power of darkness
No weapon prevails
We stand here in victory
In victory
Build My Life
Verse 1
Worthy of ev’ry song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of ev’ry breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
Verse 2
Jesus the name above ev’ry other name
Jesus the only one who could ever save
Worthy of ev’ry breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You
Chorus
Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder and show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
Bridge
I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken

The Cast of Christmas: Us
Alan Zacher
Us: Put me in, Coach!
How are we cast in the Christmas story?
Like the disciples, we are cast as players on the field of the next quarter. Not as spectators, not as fans, but as those who are called to actively carry out the Christmas story.
Luke 24:36-49 (CSB)
36 As they were saying these things, he himself stood in their midst. He said to them, “Peace to you!”
37 But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost.
38“ Why are you troubled?” he asked them. “And why do doubts arise in your hearts?
39 Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.”
40 Having said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
41 But while they still were amazed and in disbelief because of their joy, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
42 So they gave him a piece of a broiled fish,=
43 and he took it and ate in their presence.
44 He told them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you — that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
46 He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,
47 and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 You are witnesses of these things.
49 And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”
Acts 1:1-14 (CSB):
1 I wrote the first narrative, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach
2 until the day he was taken up, after he had given instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.
3 After he had suffered, he also presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
4 While he was with them, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father’s promise. “Which,” he said, “you have heard me speak about;
5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in a few days.”
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
10 While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.
11 They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.”
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, which is near Jerusalem — a Sabbath day’s journey away.
13 When they arrived, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
14 They all were continually united in prayer, along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

Missionary of the Month
Tom & Paula Carr
Tom and Paula are seconded from ABWE to Tri-M (Mobile Modular Missions) and work training local pastors in remote locations. They are based in the United States (Cedarville, OH) and travel to remote locations in Nepal to help teach training modules.
A full schedule would include two modules a year in each of 6 locations. Due to the pandemic, they have been unable to travel to Nepal but are praying that the government would cancel their quarantine requirements and allow groups to meet.
To make a one-time gift (love offering) to the Carrs, you may choose “missionary of the month” in the drop-down menu of the ChurchCenter app’s giving option. This option is also available online, here.
FBC will be hosting a Microsoft Teams video meeting with the Carrs on December 19th at 4pm PST. We will email a link when it is available.
Prayer Requests:
• Please pray that we might be able to have modules in the locations where we have begun the curriculum and then expand to new locations as well.
• Please pray for the health of our Nepali brothers and sisters and as they struggle to get food and basic necessities in the midst of intermittent lockdowns.
• Please pray for our children in school to stay healthy while adjusting to the college experience in a pandemic.
