BOOK CLUB
The Library Ladies are hosting a book club!
Everyone who reads and loves books is invited. In fact, bring your book-loving friends too. We will talk BOOKS!
We want to know what you are reading now, and why you liked it or hated it. (Did we mention that we love books, even the books you are reading?) We’ll all vote to decide the book we will read together and discuss at the next meeting.
Our first club will be on Saturday, July 30 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Jen Frater’s house and will repeat on the last Saturday of each month. Locations may vary. Contact a Library Lady for more info!

LIBRARY LADIES BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS
Shelly recommends:
The Significance of Singleness: A Theological Vision for the Future of the Church by Christina Hitchcock
Hands-down the best book I have ever read about living life as a Jesus follower, who is also single.
Uncomfortable: The Awkward and Essential Challenge of Christian Community by Brett McCracken
Church can be uncomfortable, because it is made up of other weird humans. But because we are a part of Jesus family, it is worth the work of living together as brothers and sisters.
Jen recommends:
We Cannot Be Silent: Speaking Truth to a Culture Redefining Sex, Marriage, and the Very Meaning of Right and Wrong by Al Mohler
A thought-provoking look at how the church has got some things right, and somethings wrong, and how we can be salt and light in our communities.
Everything Sad is Untrue (a true story) by Daniel Nayeri
The story of an Iranian immigrant boy in Oklahoma, and how he tells his family’s story and how it makes him who he is.
Happy Reading!!

Here I Am To Worship
Amazed/How Great Is Our God
Goodness Of God
Here I Am To Worship
Verse 1
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
Chorus
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
And You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
Verse 2
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love’s sake became poor
Bridge
And I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
And I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
Amazed
Verse 1
You dance over me
While I am unaware
You sing all around
But I never hear the sound
Chorus
Lord I’m amazed by You
Lord I’m amazed by You
Lord I’m amazed by You
How You love me
Verse 2
You paint the morning sky
With miracles in mind
My hope will always stand
You hold me in Your hand
Bridge
How wide how deep
How great is Your love for me (oh)
How Great Is Our God
Verse 1
The splendor of the King
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps Himself in light
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
And trembles at His voice
Chorus
How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God
Verse 2
And age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the End
Beginning and the End
The Godhead three in one
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb
Bridge
Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
Goodness Of God
Verse 1
I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
I will sing of the goodness of God
Chorus
All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God
Verse 2
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest night
You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a father
I’ve known You as a friend
I have lived in the goodness of God
Bridge
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Sermon Study Guide
My Brother the Thief
(and what we can learn from him)
Pastor Brad Nelson
32Two others — criminals — were also led away to be executed with him.
33When they arrived at the place called The Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals, one on the right and one on the left.
34Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided his clothes and cast lots.
35The people stood watching, and even the leaders were scoffing: “He saved others; let him save himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”
36The soldiers also mocked him. They came offering him sour wine
37and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!”
38An inscription was above him: This Is the King of the Jews.
39Then one of the criminals hanging there began to yell insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
40But the other answered, rebuking him: “Don’t you even fear God, since you are undergoing the same punishment?
41We are punished justly, because we’re getting back what we deserve for the things we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.”
42Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43And he said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:32-43 CSB
6But the righteousness that comes from faith speaks like this: Do not say in your heart, “Who will go up to heaven?” that is, to bring Christ down
7or, “Who will go down into the abyss?” that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.
8On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim:
9If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
11For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame,
12since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him.
13For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:6-13 CSB
As we gather…
What can I learn from My Brother, the Thief?
Promises?
How would the original hearers receive this?
Parallel Biblical teachings?
Can you communicate the point of this passage in a simple phrase?
As we go…
In response…
How does this truth apply to my life? Personally?
As the church?
In my community?
How does this affect how I view someone who doesn’t yet know Jesus?
How can it change my interactions with others?
To continue the conversation, email Pastor Brad: b.nelson@fbcrichland.net
