You Never Let Go
Verse 1
Even though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle
Of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back I know You are near
Pre-Chorus
And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear
Whom then shall I fear
Chorus 1
Oh no You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no You never let go
In ev’ry high and ev’ry low
Oh no You never let go
Lord You never let go of me
Verse 2
And I can see a light that is coming
For the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth
Chorus 2
Oh no You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no You never let go
In ev’ry high and ev’ry low
Oh no You never let go
Lord You never let go of me
You keep on runnin’ and You never let go
Singin’
Bridge
Yes I can see a light
That is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You
Still I will praise You

Sermon Notes
“Humility and How I Achieved It” • I Peter 5:5-9 • August 23, 2020
Introduction
Humility is one of the chief virtues of the Christian life, without which we cannot please Christ or live in His peace and joy.
1) The definition of humility
James 1:17-18
Whatever you are or have comes from God
Psalm 139
1 Corinthians 4:7
Arrogance is the result of thinking that we are self-made men and women, while humility understands that all we are and have is from God almighty who alone is worthy of praise!
2) The actions of humility
I Peter 5:5-8
• A humble person recognizes authority structures vs. 1-5
Hebrews 13:17
How can you know if you are living in humility?
• A humble person doesn’t seek status
3 John 1:9
• A humble person cares for cares for the needs of others
I Peter 1:5
Philippians 2:4
1 Corinthians 10:24
James 2:8
• A humble person obeys God
I Peter 5:6
King Saul 1 Samuel 15:10
Saul became “too big for his britches”
Saul directly disobeyed God and had the audacity to say he obeyed God. AND the problem was his self-image
If you aren’t humble before God, you won’t be humble before others
• A humble person asks for God’s help
I Peter 5:7
Philippians 4:6-7
4) The wisdom of humility
I Peter 5:5
Isaiah 42:8
Numbers 20:10
Hebrews 12:5-6
5) The encouragement of humility
I Peter 5:5b, 7b
Psalm 23
You know that you are resting in God’s care when you are doing everything you can to obey Him in any given situation.
6) The blessing of humility
I Peter 5:6
Mark 9:34-35
Conclusion: Matthew 16:24-25

Missionary of the Month
Jamie & Lisa Halverson
Jamie and Lisa have been missionaries in Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators for the past 14 years.
They provide support for translation through aviation, as Jamie is a pilot. Lisa stays home with and homeschools their 4 kids, Thad (10), Thea (8), Zeke (6), and Ziah (4).
They are currently in Pasco for an indefinite period of time as they wait for God’s provision and leading as to when they can return to Papua New Guinea and visit their supporting churches.
To make a one-time gift (love offering) to the Halversons, you may choose “missionary of the month” in the drop-down menu of the Church Center app’s giving option. This option is also available online, here.
If you would like to support Jamie and Lisa on a recurring basis, go to their Wycliffe page, enter the recurring amount, click “Give” and there will be additional instructions.
Current praises:
• being home with family and being able to reconnect with friends and supporters
• that God has everything under control
Current prayer requests:
• they are $658 short on monthly support
• Ziah’s passport is in the process of being renewed
• wisdom for recognizing God’s leading in this uncertain time
