TEEN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (TLC) – SIGNUPS OPEN
It’s that time of the year again and TLC registration is open! TLC, the Teen Leadership Conference, is a really cool event where Freshmen to college-age students can come together with other churches and hear Christian speakers and be encouraged together. Registration is $175 and open now until November 30 (for a free hoodie) and December 7 is the hard deadline (but no hoodie).
This is a really amazing event and all eligible students are encouraged to apply.
But, this isn’t just for the students. We also need adult leaders (over 21) to help with this trip. This can range from driving vans, to working in the kitchen, to being a leader at the camp, to simply committing to pray for the trip. The fee for adult leaders will be covered, so this is primarily a time commitment from you.
If you have any questions, please come and talk to Rachel Montgomery or Jared Gillespie.
And, as always, the signup is in the ChurchCenter app. Open your app and tap Home> Connect> Events or click here.
BLOOD DRIVE – 11/25
We are hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive sponsored by Oasis Physical Therapy.
Join this blood drive on Friday, November 25, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the MPR.
You may click here to register online for a time to donate. Donating blood is safe, quick and easy, and you can save up to 3 lives with just 1 blood donation! Giving blood saves 4.5 million lives each year in the US, yet fewer than 1 out of 10 people in the US donate.
Let’s roll up our sleeves and do our part!
LIBRARY BOOK CLUB – 11/26
The FBC Library, The Cross Reference, has a Book Club and it is for everyone who reads and loves books – all are invited! In fact, bring your book-loving friends too. Sign up to join the Book Club Group in the App: Home>Connect>Groups or click here
We meet on the last Saturday of the month from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. This month we will meet in the Fraters’ Library.
The Cross Reference Book Club book for November is “No Longer Strangers: Transforming Evangelism with Immigrant Communities”, edited by Eugene Cho and Samira Ismadi Page. Below is the summary from the Amazon page.
What does evangelism look like at its best?
Evangelism can hurt sometimes. Well-meaning Christians who welcome immigrants and refugees and share the gospel with them will often alienate the very people they are trying to serve through cultural misconceptions or insensitivity to their life experiences. In No Longer Strangers, diverse voices lay out a vision for a healthier evangelism that can honor the most vulnerable—many of whom have lived through trauma, oppression, persecution, and the effects of colonialism—while foregrounding the message of the gospel.
With perspectives from immigrants and refugees, and pastors and theologians (some of whom are immigrants themselves), this book offers guidance for every church, missional institution, and individual Christian in navigating the power dynamics embedded in differences of culture, race, and language. Every contributor wholeheartedly affirms the goodness and importance of evangelism as part of Christian discipleship while guiding the reader away from the kind of evangelism that hurts, toward the kind of evangelism that heals.
We look forward to hearing what you learned from reading this book at our next meeting on Saturday, November 26 at 9:30 AM at the Frater Library.
For more info and to sign up for the group and RSVP so that we know you’re participating, please visit the group on the App: Home>Connect>Groups or click here.
Looking for additional book recommendations? Check out this book list. It will keep growing through the months as we find more to add to it.
We’re excited to see you at the next Cross Reference Book Club!

The Secret Place
Draw Me Close
I Will Stand
Lay Me Down
The Secret Place
Verse 1
Where will you run my soul
Where will you go when wells run dry
When the wind starts to blow
How you gonna keep this flame alive
Pre-Chorus
In the fading light when night is breaking
I know You will always be waiting
You’ll always be there
Chorus
(I’m) running to the secret place
Where You are where You are
I’ll sing to You all the ways
You stole my heart stole my heart
Better is a moment that I spend with You
Than a million other days away
I’m running I’m running
I’m running to the secret place
Verse 2
You are my only hope
You are the Rock on which I stand
You will not let me go
I know that I’m safe inside Your hands
Bridge
Hands are lifted high hearts awake to life
We are satisfied here with You here with You
Chains will hit the floor broken lives restored
We couldn’t ask for more here with You here with You
Draw Me Close
Verse
Draw me close to You
Never let me go
I lay it all down again
To hear You say that I’m Your friend
You are my desire no one else will do
‘Cause nothing else could take Your place
To feel the warmth of Your embrace
Help me find the way
Bring me back to You
Chorus
You’re all I want
You’re all I’ve ever needed
You’re all I want
Help me know You are near
Ending
Help me know You are here
I Will Stand
Verse 1
You saved me from my destruction
You turned my feet from death
You lifted me with Your kindness
You filled me with Your breath
How can I thank You
What can I bring
Chorus
I will stand and worship You
For ev’rything You are to me
I will lift my voice in praise
For all the wonders You display
I will stand I will stand and worship You
Verse 2
You draw me with tender mercies
You hold me in Your grace
So I will fall down in rev’rence
At the myst’ry of Your ways
So how can I thank You
What can I bring
Bridge
In the middle of the congregation
I will lift my voice to say that You are good
And in the midst of ev’ry situation
I will make this declaration
You are good yeah yeah
Lay Me Down
Verse 1
With this heart open wide
From the depths from the heights
I will bring a sacrifice
Verse 2
With these hands lifted high
Hear my song hear my cry
I will bring a sacrifice
I will bring a sacrifice
Chorus
I lay me down
I’m not my own
I belong to You alone
Lay me down lay me down
Oh hand on my heart this much is true
There’s no life apart from You
Lay me down lay me down
(Oh lay me down lay me down)
Verse 3
Letting go of my pride
Giving up all my rights
Take this life and let it shine
Take this life and let it shine
Bridge
It will be my joy to say
Your will Your way
It will be my joy to say
Your will Your way
It will be my joy to say
Your will Your way always
