OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Our faithful Operation Christmas Child enthusiasts have finished another year of prep and are ready to pack some boxes!
First Baptist Church’s OCC goal this year is 200 boxes and we need to raise $2,000 to cover shipping and the cost of the boxes themselves.
We will not do a big packing party this year, but will to continue having small monthly gatherings and pack boxes from supplies we have received to date. OCC box items (school supplies, hygiene supplies, etc.) are still welcome!
This year we are packing at Dana Mortimer’s house on October 17 and 31. For more information and location details, please contact Dana Mortimer or Melany Bickford.
You may designate a donation to OCC.

We bow down and
worship Him now
How great how awesome is He

Bridge
It is rising up all around
It’s the anthem of
the Lord’s renown
It’s rising up all around
It’s the anthem of
the Lord’s renown
Same Power
Verse 1
I can see the waters
raging at my feet
I can feel the breath of
those surrounding me
I can hear the sound of
nations rising up
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome
Verse 2
I can walk down this
dark and painful road
I can face ev’ry
fear of the unknown
I can hear all God’s
children singing out
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome
Chorus
The same power that rose
Jesus from the grave
The same power that
commands the dead to wake
Lives in us lives in us
The same power that moves
mountains when He speaks
The same power that can
calm a raging sea
Lives in us lives in us
He lives in us lives in us

We have hope that
His promises are true
In His strength
there is nothing we can’t do
Yes we know there are
greater things in store
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome

Greater is He that is living in me
He’s conquered our enemy (oh)
No power of darkness
No weapon prevails
We stand here in victory
In victory

All of You
is more than enough for all of me
For ev’ry thirst and ev’ry need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You
is more than enough

You’re my supply my breath of life
Still more awesome than I know
You’re my reward worth living for
Still more awesome than I know

You’re my sacrifice of greatest price
Still more awesome than I know
You’re my coming King
You are ev’rything
Still more awesome than I know

More than all I want
more than all I need
You are more than enough for me
More than all I know
more than all I can say
You are more than enough
Scripture & Sermon Notes
Ephesians Chapter Six: Considering our Circumstances
Alan Zacher
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right.
2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise,
3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land.
4 Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Slaves and Masters
5 Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ.
6 Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart.
7 Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to people,
8 knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Lord.
9 And masters, treat your slaves the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.
10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.
11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.
13 For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.
14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,
15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.
16 In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit — which is the word of God.
18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.
21 Tychicus, our dearly loved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me so that you may be informed.
22 I am sending him to you for this very reason, to let you know how we are and to encourage your hearts.
23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all who have undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Missionary of the Month
Jim & Alene Latzko
The Latzkos utilize their 30 years of missionary experience in the Philippines to motivate and assist churches in the US to evangelize, disciple, and plant churches among new immigrants. They lead International Bible Studies, English Classes, and youth groups.
Jim was saved and discipled in the 1960’s through the ministry of First Baptist Church. Allene grew up in the Philippines, a child of missionary parents. They are sent by First Baptist with the assistance of ABWE-North America.
To make a one-time gift (love offering) to the Latzkos, you may choose “missionary of the month” in the drop-down menu of the Church Center app’s giving option. This option is also available online, here.
Alternatively, you may visit their ABWE giving page.
Praises
- On September 6, our International Fellowship at the Chinese Church held its first in-person meeting since the COVID-19 crisis began.
- Our English classes have built close friendships with Internationals in Richland and their families.
- We currently have people attending our classes from both the US East Coast and Asia.
- We have the privilege of caring for Allene’s mother, Fern, at our home.
Prayer Requests
- In March, our Bridge Seminar, focusing on helping churches disciple internationals, was cancelled due to COVID-19. Pray that we will be able to teach the Bridge Seminar within the next 6 months.
- Pray for us to have a growing ministry to our English students, and that they will continue to attend online, even after they return to their home countries.
